Preparing and After Care Advice

SEMI PERMANENT EYELASH EXTENSIONS / VOLUME LASH EXTENSIONS

PREPARING FOR YOUR TREATMENT

Remove all Eye Makeup in advance to allow the lashes to be clean and dry for your treatment

Stop use of Waterproof mascara 2 days prior to your appointment

Remove Contact Lenses whilst having your treatment or wear glasses to your appointment

Do not drink high caffeine or energy drinks prior to your treatment as your eyes may flicker during your appointment

AFTERCARE

For the first Twenty Four hours after the treatment do not allow water to contact the lashes.

For two days after the treatment do not steam your face, use a steam bath, swim or wash your face with hot  water.

Do not use waterproof mascara as this will affect the bonding. Only use water based mascara on tip of the lashes.

Do not perm the lashes.

Do not use a lash curler, as it will break both the false Lashes and natural lashes.

Do not rub eyes when washing face, always pat lashes dry after cleansing.

An occasional short visit to the sauna is fine. However going on a daily basis may cause earlier maintenance as the lashes could prematurely fall off or tilt in a different direction from your natural lash.

If any irritation or infection occurs contact your Lash Technician immediately to arrange removal.

SHELLAC OR GEL POLISH  / ACRYLIC OR GEL NAIL EXTENSIONS

Many problems are caused by clients not following the technician’s advice or failing to
return to the salon for regular maintenance. If clients follow these simple guidelines, their nail enhancements will stay looking beautiful, be long lasting and cause no damage to the natural nail at all.

If you bite or pick your nails, you should start by having short extensions so as to be come accustomed to them gradually. If you continue to bite or pick your nails whilst wearing enhancements it will weaken them and cause damage to the natural nail.

Nail enhancements are not to be used as a tool to pick or scratch at things as this puts
undue pressure on the enhancement and may cause them to weaken or break.

Nail enhancements will be weakened and damaged by harsh treatment, e.g. exposing
them to detergents without wearing rubber gloves, which can cause them to become dry
and brittle and more prone to breakage.

If you notice lifting, we advise you not to pick or pull at the lifted area, as this will cause the
lifting to increase and damage the natural nail. You should call your beautician for a repair.

Nail enhancements can be removed safely in an appropriate remover followed by a
manicure to restore moisture to the natural nail. This is a professional salon procedure
that you shouldn’t try to carry out yourself.

When removing nail enamel, always use a remover recommended by your nail technician.
A non-acetone remover is considered most appropriate for most enhancements.

When wearing nail enhancements, avoid pulling backwards against the tips of the nails;

this could cause injury or breakage; e.g. opening a can of drink or pulling laundry out of the washing machine.

WAXING

Although we can not predict or guarantee who may react, most clients do not experience reactions beyond redness and minor irritation. Hair may break at the root during waxing, if hair is thin or weak, causing some hairs to grow out faster. Please follow these guidelines to minimize irritation and possible break outs.

Avoid the sun immediately after waxing and wear sun screen; recently waxed areas are prone to   hyperpigmentation (permanent darkening of the skin) if exposed to the sun or solarium. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, whirlpools and other heated sources for at least 48 hours.

Avoid heavy exercise for at least 24 hours after waxing.

Do not use exfoliating products (AHAs, scrubs, etc) and loofas for at least 24 hours after waxing as they might further irritate your skin.

Avoid tight clothing after waxing, especially in the waxed areas. Tight clothing may result in irritation and ingrown hairs.

Regular twice to three times per week exfoliation is helpful to remove dead skin so your hairs can get out above the surface of the pores and not become ingrown.

No hot baths, hot showers or sexual activity for 10 hours after a Brazilian. While your pores are open, they are vulnerable to irritation by the extreme temperatures and infection by bacteria.

Moisturise with a Tee Tree or Lavender lotion after every shower, this has a soothing healing antibacterial effect. If using an ingrown solution, use this alone until the in grown hairs and redness is minimised, then return to the lotion for maintaining your bikini area.

Routine waxing helps the skin get accustomed to the procedure and may minimise irritation.

INTIMATE WAXING

PREPARING FOR YOUR TREATMENT

Hair should be at least 1/4 inch long. That’s about he length of a grain of rice.  Trim hair appropriately before treatment if this is your first Intimate wax.

Don’t apply creams, lotions or gels to the area being waxed the day of your appointment.

Don’t sunbathe 24 hours before or after your treatment. Tanning before treatment can cause the skin to lift.

If you have a low pain tolerance, take an paracetamol or ibuprofen 30 min before your appointment to reduce discomfort.

Wear comfy underwear, you don’t want super tight clothing irritating you when you have been freshly waxed.

AFTERCARE

Don’t use any products on the waxed area until the following day.

Don’t sunbathe for 24 hours before or after your. treatment. Tanning after your treatment can cause irritation and even burns.

No swimming pool, hot tubs or sauna for 24 hours after waxing.

Keep hair follicles clean by showering immediately after exercise

Moisturise the area daily with a natural body lotion.

Gently exfoliate every 3 days with a mitt and natural body wash. Or exfoliate daily with an ultra gentle Merben Bikini Brush.

If you’re prone to bumps or in-grown hairs, use an in-grown roll-on treatment such as PFB Vanish or Tend Skin.
